(JTI-CS2-2017-CfP07-LPA-01-39) - SKIN FRICTION MEASUREMENTS ON A REAL AIRCRAFT AND FIBER-OPTICS BASED PRESSURE MEASUREMENTS FOR AIRCRAFT APPLICATIONS

Programme: Horizon 2020 Framework Programme
Call: Clean Sky 2 Call for Proposals 07 EU

Topic description

Specific Challenge:

The great challenge to validate our understanding of how flow control works during flight testing is driven by the necessity to get a clear view on a very complex 3D flow field close to the very critical aircraft stall. State-of-the art techniques like flow-cons and pressure taps give a limited view in terms of time and space on the surface. In addition time-resolving flow-field information is required near to the wall of the wing surface. For this, pressure sensing fiber-optic sensors have shown considerable potential to fulfil this need. For skin friction measurements, hot film sensors seem to be a good approach. This CfP should develop, mature, pre-test, apply these sensors for the flight test demonstration and post-process the data required to show technical readiness of flow control. Please refer to the full topic descriptions document published in this call.
